The Mercedes-Benz 4.6L V8 Biturbo engine delivers impressive performance for the 2011 and newer Mercedes-Benz models. The factory M278 engine is rated at 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, but these figures are generally underrated.

An Alpha calibration file maximizes the 4.6L BiTurbo’s capabilities. By adjusting camshaft timing, boost, and air/fuel ratios, the M278-equipped 550 series can achieve up to 575 horsepower without further modifications.

The Alpha calibration also provides a significant torque increase, delivering 660 lb-ft of torque—a gain of 98 lb-ft over stock. Power is increased throughout the entire rpm range, ensuring strong performance at any throttle position. The calibration is developed with race-proven expertise, optimizing parameters such as cam timing, fueling, ignition, load control, throttle mapping, and boost, while maintaining reliability and stock-like driveability.
