The VAG EA888 2.0 TFSI engine is widely used in several models across the Audi S-Line, Volkswagen GTI and R, Seat FR, and Skoda VRS ranges. Following the success of previous direct-fit oil cooler kits for Ford RS, Toyota GR, and Honda Type R, development continued to include other popular models. The primary objective was to design and manufacture user-friendly, easy-to-install kits requiring minimal or no modifications.

Each HEL oil cooler kit features a high-quality, reliable oil cooler manufactured by Setrab in Sweden. Setrab coolers have been used for over ten years without any reported issues regarding performance or quality. The robust construction of Setrab oil coolers has proven effective even in demanding conditions, with reports of the cooler remaining functional after front-end collisions.

HEL direct-fit oil cooler brackets are laser cut, precision folded, and powdercoated in black for a discreet finish. The Setrab oil cooler is securely mounted behind the lower bumper grill to promote direct airflow, ensuring effective cooling, performance, and accessibility. The kit includes pre-assembled braided hoses and aluminium fittings, providing all components required for straightforward installation. High-flow AN10 performance hose is used for oil delivery and return, and a 90° oil filter take-off plate and spacer plate combination with a built-in thermostat is included. The thermostat directs oil to the external cooler only when the oil reaches 92°C (198°F).

Approximately 10% of engine oil circulates through the oil cooler at any time, ensuring continuous flow, preventing air pockets, and protecting against thermal shock. Surplus oil is returned to the engine via the internal bypass system, which speeds up warm-up, offers additional protection in cold weather, and eliminates the risk of overcooling. Every kit includes an easy-to-read installation manual.

Important Notice: If the vehicle was manufactured before 2015, confirm that the oil filter stem has been upgraded to OE part #06L115678Q. Dealerships typically performed this upgrade during routine oil changes, but if not, the updated stem is still available at Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, and Skoda dealerships. Installing this part is critical before fitting the HEL oil cooler kit. Installation without this component is strongly discouraged.
