Utilizing the latest technology, have succeeded in achieving a higher spring rate, while keeping everyday use in mind, and have been able to improve driving performance.
The structural weaknesses of the rear have been resolved with new dedicated parts, allowing for a wide range of vehicle height adjustment and the use of longer springs. Compared to the MAX IV SP, the shape has evolved to make vehicle height adjustment easier, as it does not require removing and installing the springs to adjust the rear height.
The adoption of a new dedicated rear part, the helper spring, ensures sufficient extension stroke, and is designed to increase grip of the inside rear tire on the circuit.
- Spring Rate N/mm (kgf/mm): F=196 (20) / R=118 (12)
- Spring Length (mm): F=150 (Straight) / R= - (Special)
- Preset Height (mm) (Upper limit / Lower limit): F=-19 (0 - -67) / R=-18 (0 - -46)
- Upper Mount: F=Pillow / R= Stock
- Adjustable Spring Rate when shipped (Changeable rate N/mm (kgf/mm)): F= Possible ±20 (2) / R= Not possible
To address the RX-8's unique problem of difficulty in securing rear stroke, adopted a newly designed rear case and helper spring to ensure a larger stroke amount. The rear stroke is secured with the aim of suppressing the spin of the inside rear tire, not only with a mechanical LSD but also with the original LSD.
The circuit test was conducted with the standard size 265/35R18 (ADVAN A052) based on the concept of "specifications close to the user's usage conditions."
The vehicle height adjustment range was selected so that ground clearance could be secured even with the above tire size. It was designed with the possibility of further development after purchase, such as increasing camber beyond the original arm state, and with the aim of improving lap times in mind.
