K&N's 54 Series shielded air intake system is a universal cold air intake system. The 54 Series assembly is designed to increase volumetric efficiency and engine horsepower. The intake features a K&N cotton gauze air filter, which is removable for periodic cleaning and combines the benefits of an open cone filter and a standard air box in one unit.

The plastic injection-molded housing acts as a heat shield to prevent power loss. Assembly designs were flow tested extensively to provide high flow with low restriction and effective filtration in a compact space. A template is included to cut a vinyl wrap for personal customization of the housing. The assembly includes a 76mm air filter base flange and a 100mm housing intake diameter. The filter base has a 1/4 inch NPT threaded fitting for an optional vent adapter.
