Honda engineered the 2017-2021 Civic Type R to be among the fastest front-wheel drive production cars available. However, as a balance between track performance and daily driving, some compromises were made, including the stock intercooling system. Under demanding driving or high temperatures, the factory tube-and-fin intercooler is prone to heat soak, reducing the Civic Type R's performance.

The Mishimoto 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R Performance Intercooler Kit addresses this by significantly increasing the core size to more than double the stock dimensions. The 4.7-inch thick core provides a 169% increase in overall volume and a 189% increase in external fin surface area for improved heat rejection. The core construction is upgraded to a bar-and-plate design for better flow and heat transfer, while the plastic end tanks are replaced with cast aluminum for more effective airflow management.

This kit also includes a complete overhaul of the intercooler piping. The restrictive factory piping is replaced with a 2.5" mandrel-bent aluminum cold-side pipe and 5-layer heat-resistant silicone for the hot-side pipe, improving airflow and durability. The kit is available with either a black or silver intercooler and offers wrinkle black or wrinkle red piping options. The Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty is included.

Installation Notes: 27 in-lbs (3NM) recommended for all T-bolt and constant-tension T-bolt clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-35 in-lbs (2-4NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 35 in-lbs (4NM).
