SACHS Performance Clutch Disc

Clutch discs are compact, complex components subject to high loads. In addition to torque transmission, they provide torsional vibration damping, operating comfort, and high heat resistance. Clutch discs with torsion springs function as vibration dampers between the engine and gearbox.

Technology

• The SACHS Performance clutch disc uses organic performance friction material with higher thermal load capacity, greater resistance to high speeds, and a higher coefficient of friction than conventional organic clutch friction materials.
• Higher torque can be transmitted, making the clutch disc suitable for street tuning and vehicles frequently driven at their maximum gross vehicle weight.
• Combined with the SACHS Performance clutch pressure plate, it provides suitability for daily use while meeting higher demands and sporty driving requirements.

Torsion Damper

• Stronger torsion dampers enable the transmission of higher maximum engine torque.
• The reinforced damper design reduces engine vibration and protects the vehicle transmission.
• SACHS torsional dampers are individually adapted to each engine and vehicle combination.
• The damping system uses a friction device and coil springs for driving and idling operation, allowing limited rotation between the crankshaft and transmission input shaft.

Clutch Cushion Spring

• The cushion spring improves starting comfort and ensures even support for the clutch friction materials.
• Cushion springs are corrugated spring plate segments with spring travel of up to approximately 1 mm.
• They are riveted to the clutch disc carrier plate on the transmission side.
• On some high-performance SACHS Performance clutch discs, the cushion spring is omitted in favor of higher transmittable torque compared with the standard clutch disc.
