Description SACHS PERFORMANCE 883089000156 Racing Clutch for BMW M3 (E46)
This vehicle-specific SACHS RCS 2/184 racing clutch module is engineered for the BMW M3 E46, model years 2000–2006. It combines a twin-disc SACHS RCS 2/184 S7.8 racing clutch with a lightweight single-mass flywheel and matching release bearing.
The significantly lower rotating mass improves engine pick-up, sharpens Throttle response, and reduces driveline load. It is ideal for track tools, time-attack, and drift setups based on the BMW M3 E46.
The twin-disc SACHS RCS 2/184 racing clutch from ZF Motorsport delivers high endurance capability, precise modulation, and consistent lap times. The 184 mm diameter provides an optimal balance of compact packaging, low rotating mass, and sufficient friction area for stable temperatures.
- The 7.8 mm sintered metallic pads provide a large wear reserve and effective thermal buffer.
- Sintered metallic linings provide reliable grip and fade resistance at elevated disc temperatures, increase Torque capacity, and extend service intervals.
- High-strength steel pressure and intermediate plates withstand mechanical and thermal peaks and are fully launch-proof.
- The forged aluminum clutch cover combines low mass, high stiffness, and a clean thermal balance.
Less Mass
One of the greatest strengths of the RCS sintered clutch is its low mass and associated low mass inertia. SACHS RCS clutches are Designed for racing, with the objective of transmitting Torque rapidly and directly from the engine to the gearbox. Reducing the weight of the crankshaft drive lowers the moment of inertia and considerably increases vehicle acceleration performance in the lower gears.
Faster Acceleration
With a clutch moment of inertia of 0.061 kg·m², the moment of inertia at the drive wheel is 180 times higher in first gear with a transmission reduction of 13.4:1. Converted into vehicle mass, this equates to approximately 145 kg of additional weight to be accelerated in first gear. The low moment of inertia of the SACHS RCS clutch considerably reduces shifting times and allows the vehicle to accelerate faster.
