Type R Kit FAQs and Help:
Can a different in-tank pump be installed? Yes. The FK2 uses basic on/off relay control for the in-tank fuel pump, which can be replaced with a larger pump if required.
How are calibration switches changed? Up to 12 calibration options can be controlled through the Up and Down cruise-control buttons on the steering wheel. The selected calibration is indicated by the tachometer displaying 2,000 rpm for position 2, 3,000 rpm for position 3, and so on.
How is Rolling Anti-lag activated? By pressing the Lim button on the steering wheel.
Can the OBD port still be used to log, read, and clear codes from other vehicle ECUs, such as the ABS ECU? Yes.
What is Autoblip, and how does it work? Autoblip replicates heel-and-toe operation. Under certain conditions, the throttle body opens while the clutch is pressed to match engine speed during downshifts. Brake pressure and the clutch-switch signal determine whether the throttle blips and the amount of blip applied in R-mode or normal mode. Autoblip is fully customizable according to driving style and preferences.
Does the Syvecs have flat shifting? Yes. Flat shifting is enabled according to TPS position, engine speed, and the clutch switch. When all conditions are met, a fuel and/or ignition cut prevents the engine from over-revving while the throttle remains fully open.
Does the OEM traction control still work? No. The OEM traction control is completely disabled and replaced by Syvecs traction control. Traction control can still be disabled completely using the OEM traction-control switch. The dashboard light illuminates when traction control is disabled and flashes when Syvecs traction control is active and wheelspin occurs.
Does cruise control still work? Yes, but it operates differently from the OEM ECU. The required speed must be held before pressing Main on the steering wheel. Syvecs then maintains the speed recorded when the button was pressed. Vehicle speed must be stable for the setting to register. The speed cannot be increased or decreased using the + and − switches because these switches are used to change calibrations.
Does the Syvecs have launch control? Yes. Syvecs replaces the OEM launch-control strategy. Launch control is fully customizable, including boost and engine speed, and is activated using the Autostart button. Launch control is active when the Autostart switch light is illuminated.
Which functions are lost when the OEM ECU is removed? Hill-start assist and cruise-control speed adjustment are unavailable because the Up and Down buttons are used to change calibrations. The engine oil-temperature display is also lost. The engine does not have an oil-temperature sensor, and the original display only shows an estimated oil temperature.
