Description

The Syvecs Toyota Corolla GR AWD module is a standalone AWD/4WD/centre differential controller designed to take full control of the Corolla GR AWD system.

OEM-designed controllers are locked and not adjustable. Fitting the Corolla GR AWD module provides a new level of control and prevents instant AWD dropouts on the circuit. It replicates all OEM CAN information and uses variables from the OEM CAN system within its control strategies, including steering angle, brake pressure, RPM, TPS, lateral G, yaw, longitudinal G, speeds, temperatures, and mode switches.

The Corolla GR differential mode buttons provide live switching between AWD Select 1, 2, and 3 duty maps to adjust AWD clamping. Burnout mode can also be activated using the hazard lights, Handbrake, or an external switch.

  • An optional loom supports external burnout switches and live adjustment potentiometers, allowing AWD duty adjustment while driving or 2WD activation at the flick of a switch. This is for rally cars only and must be ordered with the unit.
  • Limp protection is provided for excessive slip, high current, and high temperatures, warning the driver while keeping AWD active rather than shutting down the outputs.
  • Syvecs SCal software provides access to more than 40 maps for controlling the solenoids and motors used in the AWD system.
  • External sensors can be connected to the AWD module and linearized using SCal software.

The Syvecs AWD unit has a dedicated CAN bus transmit area where variables can be sent from the AWD system to external control units for monitoring or to the OEM CAN bus system using custom identifiers and byte structuring.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: Does the module avoid fully disengaging the rear axle when the clutches reach approximately 100°C?

Answer: Correct. It slowly reduces current to the AWD solenoid instead of fully releasing it like the OEM controller. The rear axle is disengaged only when 2WD mode is active or the Handbrake is pulled.

Question: Can the module provide more than 70% rear bias, and does its 30/70% rear bias feel different from the stock system?

Answer: The module can run more RWD bias than the OEM unit. Testing by a dealer on an advanced MAHA dyno achieved slightly more Torque at the rear than the OEM unit by increasing current through the solenoid. This is fully adjustable in the software, and the base map sets Track mode to use this higher current and duty.

Question: What are the benefits if rear bias and clutch-pack temperature limits remain similar to stock?

Answer: The fully adjustable unit allows live RWD bias adjustment through the software, OEM buttons, or external potentiometers. The control strategy can be configured for tyre sizes, engine Torque curve, temperature-limit requirements, and other vehicle specifications. Toyota uses the unit for rally builds for these reasons.
