When shifting gears, the engine stops generating power for a short time. During this time, the engine slackens, and when power is reapplied, it has to move and strain again to transfer power to the wheels. This is a waste of time when changing gears on the track or during drag racing. For this reason, a particularly strong engine mount has been developed.
