The VERUS ENGINEERING A0196A Ducktail Rear Spoiler is designed to increase rear-end downforce on the Subaru WRX and STI (VA) while maintaining low aerodynamic drag. Developed from a clean-sheet approach, the spoiler was modeled using NX software with G3 surface continuity to achieve a refined OEM-like appearance, while CFD validation in OpenFOAM ensured measurable aerodynamic performance gains.

By increasing the high-pressure zone on the trunk surface, the ducktail spoiler generates downforce at speed where the factory configuration typically produces lift. The design controls the trailing edge to minimize drag increase, making it well suited for vehicles with factory power levels where excessive drag from a rear wing may negatively impact lap times. The spoiler can also be paired with the Verus UCW rear wing without compromising wing efficiency.
